Flyers Take Charge Of Panther Homecoming

As the Pine View Panthers and Dixie Flyers prepared for a cross-town rivalry game, the fans enjoyed a tailgate party filled with food, bounce houses, and school spirit. As game time approached the weather cleared and allowing the Flyers and Panthers to play ball! 

Braxton Peterson decided to run one in for the Panthers to put his team on the board first for this 2011 homecoming game. Dixie wasn’t far behind with a 3-yard pass into the endzone to end out the first quarter. The Flyers continued the momentum with Blake Barney connecting with Lukas Hildebrandt to open the second.

The Panthers showed their teeth as Peterson connected twice with Wesley Moeai, to give Pine View a lead of 19-14 just before the break. Barney and Hildebrandt soared in with a 77-yard pass to finish the first half up 21-19.

After the break the battle ensued, with each team scoring one touchdown in the third on short runs. Dixie started off the fourth with a 22-yard run from Justin Cummings, who finished the night with 118 yards on 23 carries. Pine View did not roll over at that point, with Wesley Moeai returning a 98-yard interception to finish the night down two. Dixie took the battle of Washington County 35-33.

Braxton Peterson had 162 yards on 19 carries and finished with two touchdowns. Blake Barney was 19 of 28 passing and had 252 yards and three touchdowns under his belt.
