Girlfriends ready themselves for Fantasy Football

By:

When it comes to Fantasy Football, most girls are as clueless as a guy would be walking into a dress shop.

It helps to know what you are getting into in order to have a guide to all of this football nonsense. The basic idea behind Fantasy Football is to draft players from different teams into your personal dream team. You get points awarded for how well your players do and they are subtracted when they don’t do well.

For some girls, sitting down and watching football with the guys while they cheer on the players on their fantasy team is a great weekend activity. Some might even say it’s relaxing. Others couldn’t care less.

Jasmine Andersen, a sophomore general education major from Burlington, Wash., said she really doesn’t see the pull of the fantasy sport.

“I don’t really understand the point, but hey, one man’s entertainment is another man’s boredom,” Andersen said.

There are plenty of things you can do to pass the time during the game instead of succumbing to boredom. Things from homework to being outdoors and reading are some of the ways girls have said they would rather spend their time.

Autumn Dorosky, a freshman elementary education major from Hurricane, said she would definitely prefer to read.

“I don’t like it, so (I) wouldn’t play,” Dorosky said. “I would like to read instead.”

Janae Godfrey, a freshman general education major from St. George, said she’d rather spend her time outdoors.

“It sounds pretty cool, but I’d prefer to spend my time hiking,” Godfrey said.

The main thing to keep in mind is, if he has a Fantasy Football team, nothing is going to pull him away from the games his players are in. The best thing to do is find something to occupy yourself if he’s engulfed in the game. One thing guys and girls seem to agree on is if during football season you aren’t interested in the game, it’s best to stay out of the way. Andersen said she is not interested in joining the game with the guys.

“I probably wouldn’t [join in] unless it was a really big deal to him, then I might try it out just for his’ sake,” Andersen said.

Dorosky said she might join in with the guys, but she would most likely keep her distance instead.

While most girls say they aren’t really interested in joining in the draft, guys don’t mind having girls join in with them. For those girls who want to join in the Fantasy Football fun, the best thing to do is find a group that has experienced members to help you out.
